General information:
The Mechanical Department was founded in 1972.
Industrial equipment used in food technology gets constantly more perfect and
complicated. The quality level of the finished products, consumer needs and
people’s health directly depend on technological processes, technical
training and the correct application of the equipment used. Our graduates
successfully design, create and maintain the technological equipment for
production and storage of food products at
the enterprises.
The perspectives for graduates are not restricted by borders of the food
industry. Employers always give a preference to expert technicians having a
higher professional education. The profound theoretical and practical
knowledge of our graduates is often used in other highly technological
branches: chemical industry, mechanical engineering, and motor industry.
Alongside with special subjects on machinery and equipment, students are
taught in such
engineering courses as automation and computer-aided systems, engineering
graphics, information science, electrical and computer engineering,
material structure science, elements of machines and design fundamentals.
The faculty has a big pedagogical experience and scientific potential. More
than 65% of the faculty body have various
scientific degrees (Ph.D. and Dr.Sc.) including 7
Dr.Sc.
Students have an opportunity to carry out different kinds of the scientific
activity. The division deals with the following important directions in
research and technology: development of advanced and highly technological
mixtures of dry and liquefied products; creation of the algorithms and
software programs, microprocessing devices; the
refrigerating machines optimization; the investigations of the
rotor-injector equipment dealing with the heterogeneous gas-liquid
environments, and others.
A number of computer class rooms the division has enables
to research and develop technological projects. All the computers are
integrated in the global internet network. At present, the traditional ways
of designing are often replaced by the computer graphics using engineering
software packages. The efficiency of the educational process is achieved by
using different specialized equipment in labs and workshops.
Our students have the opportunities to develop and defend their
diploma research papers and projects in the English language.
More than 900 students study at the division, and about 700 of them get the
education on the free-of-charge basis.
Every year some 10 graduates receive the excellent diplomas.

Professions:
261201 - Technology and design of packing materials
Qualification – an engineer.
While choosing food products, consumers first of all pay attention to the
attractiveness of a good package. A package also provides the preservation
of food products and that is why it directly affects their qualities.
Teaching the items of the profession is granted by merely a few
Universities in Russia.
The KemIFS&T graduates having the 261201-
qualification, in parallel get the certificate of the artist-designer and
engineer who possesses the package art design technology.
140504 - Refrigerating, cryogenic techniques, and conditioning units
Qualification – an engineer.
The engineers of this direction deal with assembling and exploitation of
facilities and apparatuses designed for the regeneration and use of
artificial freezing agents, the thermal regimes stabilization in different
objects with solid, liquid, and gas environments. Besides, graduates can work
out and investigate special low-temperature systems.
260601 – Machines and apparatuses of food production
Qualification – an engineer.
The experts of such a qualification develop, create, exploit, and maintain
machines and equipment designed for storage and processing of raw materials
of agribusiness. An engineer having this profession can work as a technical
master of equipment repair and exploitation, a mechanical engineer of
workshop or industrial enterprises, an engineer in systems safety services,
and a researcher.
220301 – Automation of technological food processing
Qualification – an engineer.
The basic functions of an expert of the given direction are designing,
adjustment, exploitation of automatic and computer-aided technical plants,
and the development of hard- and software for digital computer control
systems. To successfully possess the profession, a student should need a
serious knowledge of mathematics, physics, and a vast volume of information
in the field of analog and digital control systems.
260602 – Food engineering of small enterprises
Qualification – an engineer.
A graduate receiving this profession has the skills in mechanical
engineering, food technologies, and economics and business administration.
Such wide scope reveals new possibilities for a professional in the sphere
of a personal business. The experts of this professional direction are
indispensable for small food enterprises equipped with a various
complicated domestic and foreign technique.
280201 – Safety of technological processes
Qualification – an engineer.
An engineer having this qualification should provide safe and economic
conditions for a production activity of a working
personnel. The engineer activity in the field of a technological safety is
connected with all types of machines, apparatuses, and technological
processes, different devices of collective and individual defense means
protecting a worker from dangerous and harmful factors. Graduates of the
“Safety of technological processes” profession can also work in state
administering bodies supervising the safety of technological processes and
productions in educational institutions.
